About us

The Eisenbahnfreunde Ostbelgien (EFO) preserve the living railway heritage of our region. East Belgium has always been a land of rails – with the famous Vennbahn, important cross-border lines and a long tradition of freight and passenger traffic. We restore historic locomotives and carriages and bring railway history to life for present and future generations.

Who are we?

Our main focus is the restoration and preservation of historic locomotives and carriages that once shaped the image of our region. With dedication, knowledge and attention to detail, we bring back to life vehicles that would otherwise be forgotten. We also organize guided tours, exhibitions and rides that allow visitors to experience railway history up close. The Vennbahn and other historic lines are at the heart of our work, as they continue to reflect the identity of East Belgium and its people.

Our goals

Our goal is to preserve and pass on the railway culture of East Belgium. This includes the careful maintenance of vehicles, the documentation of their history and the transmission of technical knowledge. We also want to give young people the opportunity to not only see railway technology but to understand, touch and help shape it. In this way, we build a bridge between the rich past of our region and its future.
